Ironheart Actress Dominique Thorne Teases Her Connection with Iron Man After BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER

In Marvel Comics, Riri Williams, a.k.a. Ironheart, and Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, have a much closer connection than what we are going to see in the MCU. After all, Iron Man died before Williams was introduced. But, there’s an obvious connection there, one that wasn’t really touched on in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. After all, she built a suit that was obviously inspired by Iron Man.

In the comics, Williams is a 15-year-old M.I.T. student, genius, and tech freak who built her own version of Iron Man armor from scratch from collecting scraps and started building her very own Iron Man suit. I wish we would have seen this 15-year-old version of the character in Black Panther, but we are introduced to her when she’s 19 years old.

We don’t really get much backstory on Williams in the film, but that backstory is coming in the DIsney+ series that’s being developed. During a recent interview with CB, Dominique Thorne teased what’s coming and also her connection with Tony Stark. When asked about the connection between the character, she said:

"They definitely are similar, but definitely two independent expressions of this beautiful mind. I think the answer to that is best left to the series next year, so that's where you'll have to come for the truthful answer to that question."

The actress also talked about how the motivations between Williams and Stark are similar in that they both built a suit because of their ambitious personalities saying:

"I do think in Riri's creation of this suit, or pursuing a build like that, I think that there's an inherent acknowledgment of what Tony Stark did by creating this suit of armor. I think for someone as ambitious as Riri Williams, it's without a doubt something that draws you in and begs your attention. As you can tell from the movie, that ambition will lead where it will lead and this time it's led to her being in line with him by creating her very own suit of armor."

Ironheart will be replacing Iron Man in the MCU, and I just wonder of Marvel is able to really build this character up into someone that can fill Tony Stark’s shoes. That’s going to be incredibly hard to do, but we’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel’s big master plan is moving forward. I still miss Tony.
