Jack Black Is Ready for a SCHOOL OF ROCK Sequel and Mike White Needs to Write It
Jack Black is currently making the press rounds for Kung Fu Panda 4, and while talking with the news outlet Joe, Black talking about wanting to make a sequel to his 2003 comedy School of Rock from director Richard Linklater and writer Mike White. Black said:
“I wish there’d be a ‘School of Rock 2: Electric Boogaloo,' I’m ready. You know Mike White wrote the first one and he’s a genius, and we’d have to have Mike White back in the saddle, but he’s real busy right now with ‘White Lotus,’ the best show on TV.”
School of Rock is a great film and I wouldn’t mind seeing what that character is up to all these years later. It would be fun to see the character explored further, but if it never happens, that’s fine too. The movie makes for a great standalone film.
Black played Dewey Finn in the film, a down-on-his-luck guitarist who puts together a makeshift band of kid musicians while substitute teaching at a prep school. The movie also starred Mike White, Sarah Silverman and Joan Cusack.
A couple of years Black talked to Entertainment Tonight, saying that School of Rock was the high point of his career. “My best memories are just that group of kids, and how funny and great they were. It’s definitely the highlight of my career, I can say that. Honestly.”
Would you like to see School of Rock sequel happen?
