James Cameron’s AVATAR: FIRE & ASH Is “Absolutely Breathtaking,” Says Disney CEO Bob Iger
Disney CEO Bob Iger has seen an early cut of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, and he loved what he saw.
During Disney’s 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Iger took a moment to spotlight the studio’s upcoming lineup, which includes The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Zootopia 2, and of course, the next chapter in Cameron’s wildly ambitious sci-fi franchise.
When talking about Fire and Ash, Iger didn’t hold back: “It is absolutely breathtaking,” he said.
While Iger didn’t reveal any footage to shareholders, just a logo and a few pieces of concept art featuring the Na’vi soaring on their Ikran, his reaction is enough to stir up some excitement.
The Avatar films have a long-established reputation for pushing cinematic boundaries, and it sounds like Cameron is going to deliver another great film in his epic sci-fi franchise. At the same time, of course Iger is going to pump up the hype for the film! Disney spent a lot of money on it!
This comes after Cameron talked about his wife’s reaction to the film, in which he said: “My wife watched the whole thing from end to end. She had kept herself away from it and I wasn’t showing her bits and pieces as we went along. This was Dec. 22.
“She bawled for four hours. She kept trying to get her shit back together so she could tell me specific reactions, and then she’d just tear up and start crying again. Finally, I’m like, ‘Honey, I’ve got to go to bed. Sorry, we’ll talk about it some other time.’”
Cameron also previously shared: “I've shown it to a few selected people and the feedback has been it's definitely the most emotional and maybe the best of the three so far.”
This third installment brings back Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang as the saga returns to Pandora. This time, the story will introduce the Ash People, a new Na’vi faction tied to the planet’s volcanic regions. It looks like a darker, more intense chapter in the Avatar universe.
Avatar: Fire and Ash lands in theaters on December 19, 2025.
