James Gunn Casts HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Star Milly Alcock as Supergirl
It’s been confirmed that James Gunn has officially cast House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock as Supergirl in the new DC Cinematic Universe that he’s building with DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran.
Alcock has been in the running for quite some time, and after going through the screen tests that were conducted, she is the one that Gunn wanted to have play the heroine.
I assumed that she would be the one cast because she is the most well-known out of the other actresses that were up for the role which included Emilia Jones and Meg Donnelly.
Deadline explains that Supergirl will appear in a DC-based project before her big solo feature, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. That other project could very well be Superman: Legacy, but that’s not confirmed.
Gunn said of the casting on social media, “Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon, but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by Tom King and Ana Nogueira.”
Well, I guess we’ll have to wait and see her when she’s in action. Alcock wouldn’t be my first choice, but Gunn has always properly cast his films, and I trust his casting, so it’ll be cool to see what he has planned for her!
