James Gunn Confirms CREATURE COMMANDOS Will Include the DC Villain Circe
The first series project to be released under James Gunn’s DC Studios will be his Creature Commandos animated series. The Creature Commandos team consists of monsters and superheroes that consist of a human, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein's monster, and a gorgon.
Gunn has recently confirmed a new bit of information regarding the show, saying that it will introduce the DC villain Circe. He also shared that the Wonder Woman villain is going to be voiced by Anya Chalotra. He also added that "there are going to be “other cool characters in the show that will be played by other cool actors.”
Gunn as said in the past, that this series is "Some of the Best Stuff He's Ever Written," so it will be interesting to see what comes of this show. He’s definitely building the hype for it!
It was previously explained that the story for the project is so big that the only way it could be told is through animation because it would be way too expensive to pull off for live-action. But, it was previously revealed that many of these characters, “will also play the roles in live-action later on in the DCU.
The voice cast includes David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn as Weasel and GI Robot, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, with Steve Agee reprising his role as John Economos from Peacemaker.
Gunn previously said of the series: "Creature Commandos is based on the great team from DC. What we're doing with the DCU is, we are having animation tied directly into live action. Television, movies, and games all intertwine within the same universe. We're going to cast actors that are going to be able to play the characters in this as well as in other things, some of which we've already cast. I've written all seven episodes of the show.”
Creature Commandos doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will drop before his film Superman: Legacy movie , which is currently slated for July 11, 2025.
