James Gunn Confirms Kyle Chandler Cast as Hal Jordan in LANTERNS
A couple of weeks ago it was reported that that Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline) was in talks to star in DC Studios’ upcoming HBO series Lanterns.
James Gunn has now confirmed that Chandler has taken the role and he welcomes the actor into the DCU. Gunn said: “Welcome to the DCU, Kyle Chandler! Now our Hal Jordan in #Lanterns.”
I’m a big fan of Chandler being cast in this role, and I’m curious to see what his version of Hal Jordon will be. The Lanterns version of Hal Jordan will be a grizzled, veteran Green Lantern in the series, which is said to be taking its cues from the likes of HBO's True Detective.
The series will focus on new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, “two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
The project is being developed by Ozark’s Chris Mundy, Watchmen‘s Damon Lindelof, and comic book writer Tom King.
When previously talking about the eight-episode series DC Studios Gunn and Peter Safran, said: “John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and Lanterns brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU.”
Are you happy that Chandler has been confirmed for the role?
