James Gunn Offfers More SUPERMAN Connections in PEACEMAKER Season 2 Finale

James Gunn may have just spoiled his own show. While recording the director’s commentary for Superman, the filmmaker casually revealed details about the Peacemaker Season 2 finale that tie directly into the Man of Steel’s world.

During the commentary, Gunn explained that he repurposed a key set originally built for a shadowy Superman sequence, where government officials debated how to handle Earth’s most powerful hero, that the same space would also be used for a pivotal scene in Peacemaker. Gunn shared:

"The Saturday after we did [this Superman scene], we shot a scene from Peacemaker [season 2] episode 8, because it had a lot of the same cast from Superman.”

He then spilled some details:

"It had James [Hiroyuki Liao] as Mori and Frank [Grillo] as Rick Flag, and then a couple of other people. I think this will have already aired when this director's commentary comes out, but I'm not sure actually – I'll leave the secrets there."

That slip about “a couple of other people” is what has DC fans raising eyebrows. Could Gunn be hinting at appearances from Superman and Lex Luthor?

With Man of Tomorrow already on the horizon, it’s not a stretch to imagine a setup brewing in Peacemaker’s finale.

This also explains why Gunn previously confirmed that critics wouldn’t be given advance screeners of the finale, warning that it contains spoilers too big to risk leaking.

On top of that, Harcourt actress Jennifer Holland teased that the last three episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 will have ripple effects throughout the larger DCU.

Whether or not Superman himself shows up, Gunn has clearly positioned Peacemaker as more than just an offbeat anti-hero comedy. It’s now a cornerstone of his connected DC universe.

Peacemaker Season 2 is rolling out weekly, with the finale shaping up to be a game-changing event for fans keeping one eye on Clark Kent’s future.
