James Gunn Welcomes Nicholas Hoult to SUPERMAN: LEGACY and Says You "Will Never Forget" His Lex Luthor
Head of DC, James Gunn, has officially welcomed Nicholas Hoult to the cast of his upcoming film, Superman: Legacy. Though it’s been rumored for months, and it was reported in the trades a couple of weeks ago, Gunn had stayed silent on the casting news until now, as it hadn’t all been set in stone yet. Now, it’s finally official, and Gunn posted a photo and welcome post, which reads:
“Yes, finally I can answer, @nicholashoult is Lex Luthor in #SupermanLegacy and I couldn’t be happier. We went out to dinner last night to celebrate and discuss how we can create a Lex that will be different from anything you’ve seen before and will never forget. ‘But, James, we heard this weeks ago, why didn’t you tell us it was true?’ Because, although we were discussing it, it wasn’t final until a couple days ago and I don’t want to tell you all something that isn’t certain. Anyway, here’s to Lex (and Nicholas!), one of my very favorite characters in the DCU. 🙌🧬🔬⚗️”
Hoult joins the previously cast David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer.
It was also recently announced that Sara Sampaio, the Portuguese Victoria’s Secret model, has been cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant and sometimes mistress to the scheming villain Lex Luthor.
Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025. Check out Gunn’s post below:
