James Gunn Reveals His Biggest Regret About GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

During a recent live commentary on Twitter during a Guardians of the Galaxy watch party, director James Gunn shared his biggest regret about the movie. That regret was cutting a certain line out of the film that Drax was supposed to say.

He explained that the scene where the line was cut was when the team first arrived on Knowhere and Earth was brought up in a conversation. Gunn says:

"After Drax said 'Sounds like a place where I would like to visit' he added 'and kill many people there.’ My biggest regret is not keeping this line in the movie."

I imagine that Drax threatening to come to Earth and kill a bunch of people was seen as just a little too dark for a Disney movie. But, it probably would have got a lot of laughs! It’s definitely something I could see Drax saying. In the final version of Guardians of the Galaxy, Drax said the shortened version of the line and Quill agrees with him.

Gunn also recently revealed that he had to fight for Dave Bautista to play Drax. A battle that I’m sure glad he won. Bautista was perfect in this role!
