James Gunn Reveals What Groot Said To Rocket at The End of INFINITY WAR

If you haven't seen Avengers: Infinity War yet, you might want to steer clear of this article because it contains spoilers.

One of the more heartbreaking moments at the end of Avengers: Infinity War is when Rocket Raccoon helplessly watched Groot die. As Groot disintegrated into ash he looked at Rocket and said, "I am Groot."

Thanks to James Gunn, we now have a translation of what he said to Rocket and it makes the whole situation even sadder. A fan on Twitter asked Gunn what he said and Gunn replied:

Groot referring to Rocket as Dad puts their relationship in a whole new perspective and takes that whole scene to a tragic new level. I recently wrote some thoughts on how the events of Infinity War would affect Rocket, with how he pretty much lost his entire family. The fact that we now know that he was a father figure to Groot makes that loss so much more powerful.
