James Gunn Says He's Working on Two New DC Projects For HBO Max on Top of PEACEMAKER
James Gunn delivered a great and enjoyable series with Peacemaker and while he’s already working on a second season, he says he’s got two more DC projects in development. We already knew he was working on one other Suicide Squad spinoff series, but the second one he recently mentioned was a surprise.
During an interview with podcaster Neil Vagg, Gunn was talking about Peacemaker and the character’s emotional journey and that’s where he mentioned the second mystery project:
"I know what Peacemaker's emotional journey is, y'know, I know where he is now, I know where he ends up. I mean, we see where he ends up, in some ways he ends up in a good place, he's been cleared by Adebayo, she sacrificed her own relationship with her mother to clear him. And we see at least the beginnings of a friendship between him and Amelia Harcourt, and a true friendship between him and, y'know, some of the other characters. But we also see his father looms, whether or not he was alive, and whatever that infection is that his father is still there, is very much a part of who he is. And if you know a little about the comics, that's there as well, from the Paul Kupperberg comics in particular. So yeah, I know where it goes emotionally, we're still figuring out the plot stuff, and also, frankly, I'm working on another DC thing, and maybe another one, so we got a couple of things that we're balancing with the stories."
We know that one of the projects is connected with Suicide Squad and in regards to that project. Gunn previously said: "We're working on something else now, another TV show that's connected to that universe." We have no idea what character that project will focus on, so it could be anyone from the film.
As for the second project, we don’t even know if that’s connected to Suicide Squad. But, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was. With either show, a series focused on King Shark would be fun and weird!
We’ll just have to wait and see what Gunn is cooking. But, while we wait, what Suicide Squad characters would you like to see get some attention in a DC series?
