James Gunn Says The DCU’s Story Arcs Go “Significantly Further” Than MAN OF TOMORROW

James Gunn recently shared that the DC franchise’s long-term story plans stretch far beyond Man of Tomorrow, and he hinted that while the roadmap is set, he might not be the one steering it all the way through.

When speaking with YouTuber BobaTalks, Gunn revealed:

"Yes, they definitely go significantly further than Man of Tomorrow. So whether or not that'll be me that's able to fulfil that promise depends on a lot of things in life."

That’s a pretty big tease for DC fans who’ve been eager to know how deep this new universe runs. The follow-up to Superman will see David Corenswet return as the Man of Steel, teaming up with Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor for an unexpected alliance against a mysterious new threat.

Gunn didn’t spill many plot details, but he did share what excites him most about the project:

"I love the character of Lex Luthor and so I think being able to get into him a little more, as well as Superman a bit more, and their relationship in the way they're the same and different, was exciting to me."

Before we get to see Man of Tomorrow, there’s plenty more DCU on the horizon. Supergirl and Clayface are heading to theaters, while Lanterns will light up the small screen.

On top of that, Gunn confirmed that an animated Mister Miracle series is in the works, and he already has a script, and a Booster Gold TV series has received a pilot order.

With Man of Tomorrow only serving as one chapter in a much larger saga that Gunn and his team have mapped out, we’ll have to wait and see if Gunn stays at the helm or passes the torch to a new team.

Man of Tomorrow soars into theaters on July 9, 2027.
