James Gunn Turned in a First Draft of His SUPERMAN: LEGACY Script Before The Writers' Strike
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has been working on the script for his Superman: Legacy film for months, and The Wrap is reporting that he turned in the draft last week, right before the writers’ strike, and the movie isn’t expected to be affected by the strike as production on the film won’t start until early 2024.
Gunn is also directing the film, which will introduce a new version of Superman and it will tell they story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Gunn is currently in the middle of casting, and from what I understand he has chosen the actor he wants have play Clark Kent/Superman. I know a lot of fans have been curious about who will take on the role and I’m curious to see how fans will react to Gunn’s choice.
When previously talking about the type of actor he is looking to cast in the role, he said: "It's hard, but we're looking, and we actually have some really great choices, which I'm excited about. But it has to be somebody who has all of the humanity that Superman has, but he's also an alien. It's gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has. And it has to be somebody that you want to give a hug."
Superman: Legacy will kick off the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1, and that will be followed by The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl, Swamp Thing, and more.
Pre-production on the movie kicked off last month, with costumes, production design “and more” now “up and running.”
