James Gunn’s MAN OF TOMORROW Rumored to Cast Eva De Dominici as DC Villain Maxima

The DCU continues to take shape as James Gunn moves forward with his next Superman story. While a lot of details about Man of Tomorrow are still being kept under wraps, a new report making the rounds online suggests the film may be adding another powerful character from the comics.

If the report proves true, a rising talent could be stepping into the role of the alien warrior queen Maxima.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. are currently developing Man of Tomorrow as the follow-up to Superman. Gunn is once again writing and directing the project, and the film will bring back David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

A new report from @TopNewsPrime claims that Eva De Dominici is in talks to join the movie as Maxima. At the moment, this should absolutely be taken with a grain of salt.

There hasn’t been any official confirmation from DC Studios or Warner Bros., and the character herself hasn’t been formally announced as part of the story. That said, Maxima has popped up in a few rumors connected to the film.

Even without the Maxima rumor confirmed, the cast for Man of Tomorrow is already shaping up to be pretty impressive. Alongside Corenswet and Hoult, the movie will feature Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, and Lars Eidinger as Brainiac.

As for De Dominici, she’s been building momentum with several film roles in recent years. Her credits include Cosmic Sin (2021), The Uninvited (2024), Forge (2025), and Homo Argentum (2025).

She’ll also appear in Peter Farrelly’s upcoming comedy Balls Up, which stars Mark Wahlberg, Paul Walter Hauser, and Molly Shannon.

Story details for Man of Tomorrow are still mostly a mystery, though one key element has been teased. The movie will reportedly force Superman and Lex Luthor into an uneasy alliance as they face a much bigger threat. That threat is expected to be Brainiac, the iconic cosmic villain who has long been one of Superman’s most dangerous enemies.

If Maxima does end up appearing, it could add another fascinating layer to the story. In DC Comics lore, the character is known as the fierce ruler of the planet Almerac and often crosses paths with Superman, sometimes as an enemy and sometimes as a reluctant ally.

For now, fans will have to wait and see if this casting rumor turns out to be legit. Either way, Gunn’s next chapter in the DCU is steadily coming together, and it sounds like it could deliver a pretty epic showdown.

Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
