Nicholas Hoult Has Read the MAN OF TOMORROW Script and Says It Has “Some Really Fun Stuff”
Man of Tomorrow is still a few years away, but Nicholas Hoult is already deep in Lex Luthor mode. The actor revealed that he has read the full script for the upcoming DC Studios sequel and had some genuinely enthusiastic things to say about what writer director James Gunn has cooked up.
In a chat with Variety, Hoult confirmed that production is gearing up soon with cameras set to roll in April. While he stayed cautious about specifics, he didn’t hide his excitement.
When asked about how this new film approaches Lex, Hoult teased, “There's some really fun stuff.” He also described the script itself as “awesome.”
Man of Tomorrow will push Superman and Lex Luthor into unfamiliar territory and into an uneasy alliance. The assumed threat is Braniac, a character fans have been talking about since Gunn posted the script cover online.
The director addressed the speculation directly. “Listen, of course, I wasn't unaware that when I posted the cover of the script that there was going to be discussion around that particular topic,” Gunn said. “But I think we'll hold off from what exactly is happening.”
For now, most details remain locked away. What we do know is that this sequel will continue threads from both Superman and Peacemaker Season 2, which Gunn previously referred to as “the Man of Tomorrow Prequel.”
That suggests the new movie will be more interconnected than expected and may expand the mythology laid out in the earlier stories.
While fans wait for Kal El and Lex to return, DC Studios has plenty arriving sooner. Supergirl is next on the slate and lands in theaters next year. Gunn recently shared a short first teaser and it feels like a completely different corner of the DC Universe.
After that, 2026 brings Lanterns and Clayface, which will continue to build out the new era of DC storytelling. Man of Tomorrow hits theaters on July 9, 2027.
