James Wan Is Developing a CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON Movie for Universal Pictures
James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious) is developing a new Creature From The Black Lagoon movie for Universal Pictures as a producer, but he is also currently in talks to direct the film.
It’s explained that Wan is developing “a grounded modernized retelling that leans into visceral horror while paying respect to the original classic.”
Wan is at his strongest when he’s directing horror, and it will be interesting to see what his vision of The Creature From The Black Lagoon will be. I hope that he will deliver something awesome!
Creature from the Black Lagoon was released in 1954 and the story of the original follows a group of scientists who discover a prehistoric, amphibious humanoid creature in the Amazon jungle.
While exploring a remote lagoon, the team, led by Dr. David Reed, becomes fascinated by the creature, dubbed the Gill-man. As they attempt to capture and study it, the creature turns aggressive, feeling threatened by the intruders in its territory.
The film is a suspenseful tale of man versus nature, showcasing the eerie atmosphere of the jungle and the fear of the unknown as the scientists fight for survival against the creature's wrath.
I love the original film, and there’s an opportunity here for Wan to do something really cool as he retells this story.
Wan is producing the film under his Atomic Monster banner with Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Judson Scott executive producing.
Do you think Wan will deliver a great Creature From The Black Lagoon movie?
