James Wan Says THE CONJURING 4 Could Wrap Up The Franchise
The Conjuring 4 is moving forward and will focus on another supernatural case involving paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga). We don’t know exactly what case this film will focus on, but there’s a chance that this could be the last in the franchise.
This possibility was teased by Wan during an interview with Collider as he is promoting his upcoming horror movie M3GAN. When asked about the next Conjuring movie and what the future holds for the franchise, Producer James Wan said:
“Yeah, we are working on it right now. With the Conjuring films, we are very precious about [them]. And so we kind of want to just take our time to make sure we get it right and to make sure the emotion of the Warren stories that we want to tell, and moving into, and potentially wrapping up, we just want to make sure that it's the right thing, the right story that we're telling.”
I really appreciate the thought and care that Wan and his team put into creating these Conjuring films. The next movie is written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who previously wrote and produced The Conjuring 2 (2016) and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021).
When asked if this next film would be its last, Wan responded, "We never know. You never know. We'll see." But, one thing is for sure, one day this franchise will come to an end. I love this horror franchise and I don’t want to see it end anytime soon, but regardless of when it ends, I just want it to close on a high note with a great movie!
