James Wan Will Produce the RESIDENT EVIL Reboot and Now I'm Really Excited!

When I found out that Resident Evil was already getting the reboot treatment, I was actually kind of excited. I'm a huge fan of the video game franchise, and even though some of the Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich films were fun, none of them blew me away. As long as Anderson was involved with the franchise, I knew we'd never get a truly great Resident Evil move. So the fact that it's getting a reboot with a whole new team of talent opens up the possibility of a great film.

Today Deadline is reporting that The Conjuring and Insidious franchise director James Wan is attached to produce the remake! That's definitely an awesome step in the right direction! Wan is an incredibly talented director, who is a modern day master of horror.

The reboot will be written by Greg Russo, who most recently wrote the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie, which Wan is also producing. The Resident Evil reboot will also have a completely new cast.

There's no information on what the film will be about, but there are several games in the franchise and several characters that they can choose from to be used in whatever story they end up telling. As I previously mentioned, I'd kind of like to see a movie based on the most recent game Resident Evil: Biohazard, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens!
