Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan Are "Committed" to FREAKY FRIDAY Sequel, and Disney Is Interested
Actresses Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween) and Lindsay Lohan (Mean Girls) are known for plenty of movies, but one that’s still remembered fondly by fans is the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday. In the movie (first made by Disney in 1976 and starring a young Jodie Foster), they play a mother and teen-aged daughter who can’t understand one another, and end up switching bodies for a day to learn to walk in each others shoes, so to speak.
It’s a fun movie, and now that Lohan is back in Hollywood and coming out with a Christmas movie at Netflix, Curtis recently came out and said she’d love to return for a sequel, and she’s already mentioned it to Disney. Now the word is that Curtis has spoken with Lohan about the collaboration, and both actresses are on board!
Curtis attending the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery premiere this week, and Variety asked the status of Freaky Friday 2. Curtis responded:
“There is no scheduled date, but we’re talking. People are talking. The right people are talking.”
Curtis said she and Lohan discussed their possible big screen reunion last Sunday.
“I’m 64 in a week and Lindsay is 36…[A sequel] lends itself so beautifully. We’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours to make. It’s Disney’s to make and I think they’re interested and we’re talking.”
Considering how Curtis brought back the Halloween franchise, the outlet asked her if they are already considering multiple installments of Freaky Friday films?
“Let’s just try to get another one made. We’re a ways away.”
It’s good to hear that this project is coming along. I liked the original movie, and with these actresses returning, fans will show up to see the sequel. Are you looking forward to Freaky Friday 2?
