Jason Blum Says There's Been "An Enormous Amount of Activity" on Todd McFarlane's SPAWN Movie

It seems like whenever there’s an update on the new Spawn movie, creator Todd McFarlane is the one to give it. Well, producer Jason Blum has now offered an update on the project, and he makes it very clear that this is a project that is moving forward and he’s very excited about getting it made.

During a recent interview with CB, the producer says that there has been "an enormous amount of activity" on the film lately, and he describes it as being akin to a "seismic event." He went on to say:

"No new news that I'm going to reveal here, I'm sorry to tell you, but the title 'Spawn,' I've been uttering that word a lot in the last two or three weeks and we'll have more news to come. I wanna make the movie so badly...but in this case, I've actually been talking to other people about it."

That’s great news! When you actually hear this from the guy who is producing the movie, there is some real weight behind it. McFarlane has been talking about this movie for years! So, when he says something it’s just talk, but when you hear it from someone like Blum, then you know that things are happening.

It's been confirmed by McFarlane that his Spawn film will be R-Rated, and that he will be the director. He’s also looking at hiring an unnamed award-winning screenwriter to help him polish the script. Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner are attached to star in the film as Spawn and Twitch and when talking about his take on the story, McFarlane previously explained:

"There's two big roles in the script. There's obviously sort of Spawn himself, although in a weird way it's not the biggest role, and then there's the cop. The cop is this character Twitch who's been there since issue #1. Twitch is the role in this one, and I sort of refer to him as my sheriff Brody, who is the sheriff in the Jaws movie. Although it was called Jaws, Jaws didn't really talk a lot in his movie, right? He just kind of showed up at the opportune time to make the movie worthwhile."

As a long time fan of the Spawn franchise, this is a project that I’ve been hoping would actually get made one day and it looks like that it’s actually going to happen!
