Jason David Frank Talks Potential Lord Drakkon Netflix Series and "Shattered Grid" Twist

If you are a fan of Power Rangers, you know the name, Jason David Frank. He’s played Tommy Oliver ever since the ‘90s. In fact, he even recently played Lord Drakkon (an evil version of Tommy from a different universe) in a live-action trailer for the "Shattered Grid" storyline that started in Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers #25. That trailer was so awesome, many fans are wishing that it would be turned into a movie or TV series, and Frank seems to agree. Talking with ComicBook.com about the trailer, Frank said this:

Everyone’s on board to make this awesome trailer slash possible pilot that could be its own show or something. I just want to make it clear before everyone jumps on board. This is a promo for Shattered Grid, but I was hoping to get the attention of fans around the world including the Saban brand and say, “Hey, look, this could be an awesome Netflix series, this could be a highly talked about series around the world.”

And it’s ... because the reason for that is not ... If I was doing a Green Rangers series, or a White Ranger series, great. And those talks hopefully will be in the future. But the cool thing about Lord Drakkon is not everybody ... 2 out of 10 people know him, so eight people are gonna search for it to find out what this is. If you read the comic it’s like, “What is this? I’m blown away. It’s better than the movie. It’s this, it’s that.

I would watch that Netflix series! My brother would watch that series! All the fans would watch that series! In addition to talking about wanting to make a Lord Drakkon series, Frank also talked about a shocking twist in the first issue of "Shattered Grid". Be warned, big spoilers are ahead.

If you’ve read MMPR #25 already, you know the twist I’m talking about. Lord Drakkon kills Tommy Oliver. How crazy was that? Drakkon kills a different version of himself, and it just goes to show that no one is safe from Drakkon. There are real stakes in this storyline. Frank himself was excited about this twist:

How do I feel about Lord Drakkon eliminating Tommy? Not gonna tell you much more, you’re going to have to check it out. I think it’s awesome. I am Lord Drakkon. He is the ultimate Power Ranger God. So other Rangers, beware.

If you haven’t read MMPR #25, what are you waiting for? This was the first Power Rangers comic I read, and I was not disappointed. Keep an eye out for the continuation of "Shattered Grid" in Go Go Power Rangers #9 which is due out May 2, 2018, and let us know who you think is next.
