Jenna Ortega Teases a Slasher-Themed WEDNESDAY Season 2 and a Wild FULL METAL JACKET Inspired Moment
Netflix’s Wednesday is coming back bigger, bolder, and bloodier, at least according to series star Jenna Ortega. The actress recently teased some wild details about the upcoming second season, including a full-blown slasher-themed episode and a moment that bizarrely channels Full Metal Jacket.
While speaking with Collider, Ortega gave fans a taste of what’s to come, promising a season packed with horror homages and twisted visuals.
She said: “Visually, I can say we have some of the most fun we've ever had,” she said. And if you thought season one had its eerie moments, season two is taking things to another level.
One frame, in particular, stuck out to Ortega while filming: “It’s crazy to talk about one frame like this, but there is a frame of Pugsley rolling his eyes back with this contraption around his head—that's all I can say—and it reminds me so much of Full Metal Jacket. It's insane. So bizarre.”
There’s also an entire episode dedicated to slasher movies. When talking about that, Ortega said: “I just feel like there are a lot of scenes and frames, and there's a whole episode based off of slashers, and we make a lot of horror references.
“So, everything about it, I feel like we kind of had a little bit more trust, and therefore, we felt like we could do bigger, more elaborate sequences, which is nice.”
That sounds like something horror fans will enjoy, especially considering how Wednesday already embraced the genre’s gothic and macabre elements in Season 1.
As for when we’ll actually get to see all this unfold, Netflix is keeping the release date under wraps. But Ortega confirmed things are moving along.
“We're still in the edit,” she shared, adding that she’ll be closely involved with the process until the season is locked.
And what about season three? With Wednesday being one of Netflix’s biggest hits, fans are eager for an update. While there’s no official green light yet, Ortega hinted that the wheels are n motion.
“We haven't gotten an official thumbs up or anything like that,” she admitted. “But I know that the writers are… With a show like that, you kind of want to get ahead of the game. So, I think that they're kind of messing around and throwing out ideas.”
It sounds like Wednesday Season 2 is going to be a wild, horror-filled ride!
