Jensen Ackles Confirms THE BOYS Spin-Off VOUGHT RISING Has Wrapped Filming

Fans of The Boys are getting ready for the end of the road as the upcoming fifth season will bring the brutal superhero satire to an end. But while the main series is preparing to close the book, the franchise isn’t going anywhere.

One of its most chaotic heroes, Soldier Boy, is already gearing up for his next chapter in the prequel series Vought Rising, and the show has officially finished filming.

Jensen Ackles, who plays the volatile supe, shared the update on Instagram with a short video confirming the production wrap. Along with the clip, Ackles posted the caption:

"Finishing out with a bang! It’s been an absolute thrill ride. Thanks to the crew, cast, and all those who gave so much time and energy to make this happen. You’re all a bunch of psychos…and I love you for it."

The video also gives fans a small tease of Soldier Boy’s new costume. Ackles shows off the lower half of the suit, revealing bright green trousers paired with red accents and boots.

It’s a noticeable shift from the darker green and gold gear he wore in The Boys. The upper portion of the outfit has already been revealed in previous images, featuring a long green coat and a black mask that leans into the character’s earlier comic-inspired design.

The wardrobe change makes sense given the time period. Vought Rising takes place decades before the events of The Boys, transporting the story back to the 1950s. The series explores the early days of Vought International and is said to revolve around a murder mystery tied to the company’s origins.

Soldier Boy won’t be alone in this story. The series will also follow Stormfront, who was revealed in The Boys to have a long and disturbing history stretching back to the Second World War.

Because both characters were injected with early versions of Compound V, they don’t age, which explains why they’ll appear almost identical to their present-day counterparts despite the story being set nearly 70 years earlier.

The prequel will also introduce several retro-era supes, including Bombsight, Private Angel, and Torpedo, expanding the early mythology of Vought and its questionable experiments with superpowered heroes.

While Vought Rising doesn’t have an official premiere date yet, fans won’t have to wait long to return to this universe. The final season of The Boys arrives on Prime Video on April 8, setting the stage for the next chapter of Vought’s twisted history.

If Ackles’ excitement about the wrap is any indication, this throwback journey into the early days of supes is sure to be a wild ride.
