Jensen Ackles Teases Multi-Season Plans for THE BOYS Prequel VOUGHT RISING

As The Boys heads toward its final season, the franchise isn’t slowing down at all. In fact, it’s gearing up to expand in a pretty awesome way.

One of the most intriguing projects on the horizon is Vought Rising, the upcoming prequel series that dives deep into the twisted history of Vought International. And now, Jensen Ackles has dropped some exciting insight that suggests this story isn’t going to be a one-and-done deal.

Ackles, who plays the chaotic and unpredictable Soldier Boy in The Boys, recently opened up about the direction of the spinoff while chatting with Collider. From the sound of it, Prime Video has bigger plans than just a limited run.

“I think the intent is to do multiple seasons,” he said. “When they pitched it, they were like, ‘Hey, we’re thinking about doing this prequel thing, going back to the 1950s with Soldier Boy.’ I don’t think I let them finish the sentence before I was like, ‘Yes!’ But I know that the intent is to have it be a multi-season show.”

That should get fans fired up. The idea of spending several seasons exploring the early days of Vought, especially through the lens of Soldier Boy, opens the door for all kinds of wild, dark storytelling that fits perfectly within this universe.

Ackles also teased how the show will connect tonally to what fans already love about The Boys, while still offering something fresh thanks to its time period and character focus.

“It’s going to feel familiar, as far as the format of it all,” adding, “The Soldier Boy aspect of it is I’m used to playing, and we’re used to seeing Soldier Boy in modern times, but he is a, I like to say, analog man in a digital world, so he’s a fish out of water with what we know of him now.”

That shift is what makes this concept so interesting. Instead of watching Soldier Boy struggle to adapt to a modern world, we’ll see him in his prime, operating in a time where he actually fits in. That means we’re likely getting a version of the character that feels even more dangerous.

Ackles continued, “Now we’re getting to see him be relevant, getting to see him in his actual environment where he feels like this is where he belongs. He’s the top dog. But you also get to see the experience as to why he ended up the way he did. We get to kind of peel back the layers of what truly happened in that time.”

That last part is the real hook. Vought Rising isn’t just about cool retro superhero action. It’s about digging into the origins of one of the franchise’s most volatile characters and understanding how he became the guy we met in The Boys.

If the show leans into that character-driven storytelling while delivering the same sharp edge fans expect, it could end up being something awesome.

There’s still no official release date locked in for Vought Rising, but fans won’t be left hanging for long. The fifth and final season of The Boys is set to premiere on Prime Video on April 8, 2026.

If this prequel really does stretch across multiple seasons, it looks like the world of The Boys will keep going strong even after the main series wraps. Exploring the rise of Vought in the 1950s with Soldier Boy leading the charge sounds like a ride worth sticking around for.
