Jeremy Allen White Reportedly Isn’t the Only Big Name Who Met With Marvel About Wolverine
The hunt for the MCU's next Wolverine could be getting interesting. Jeremy Allen White has reportedly met with Marvel Studios about taking on the iconic mutant, but it sounds like he isn't the only major actor being considered for the role.
According to industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Marvel is currently speaking with multiple actors about playing Wolverine in its upcoming X-Men reboot. The insider shared on X: “Jeremy Allen White isn’t the only one in talks,” the insider wrote on X. “Another big name just met with Marvel about Wolverine as well.”
Unfortunately, there's no word on who this mystery actor might be, but it certainly makes you wonder who else Marvel has in mind to take over the claws.
The report follows an earlier claim from entertainment insider Jeff Sneider of TheInSneider, who revealed that White had recently met with Marvel executives about joining the MCU. According to that report, the actor could make his debut with a small cameo before eventually taking on a much bigger role.
White would certainly be an interesting choice for Wolverine, especially for fans who have wanted to see a version of the character that's closer to his comic book appearance.
Standing at 5-foot-7, White is considerably shorter than Hugh Jackman, who has defined the live-action role for more than two decades. In Marvel Comics, Wolverine stands just 5-foot-3 and weighs around 200 pounds. That shorter, stockier build has always been part of the character's appeal, and White would bring the MCU a little closer to that original look.
He's also got the acting chops to make the character work. White earned an Emmy for his performance as Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto in FX's The Bear, and fans also know him from his decade-long run as Lip Gallagher on Shameless.
Taking on Wolverine would give White an opportunity to become the face of one of Marvel's biggest superhero franchises. Of course, landing the part would also mean following Jackman, whose portrayal remains one of the most beloved performances in comic book movie history.
For now, Marvel hasn't confirmed any casting discussions, and the studio continues to keep its plans for the X-Men's introduction into the MCU under wraps. It's also unclear whether White or the unidentified actor is a serious contender or simply someone Marvel wanted to meet.
Either way, the possibility of Marvel actively exploring multiple high-profile actors makes the search for its next Wolverine a lot more interesting.
I'm curious to see who this other actor turns out to be. White could bring something fresh to Logan, but Marvel has a huge opportunity to find someone who can make the character his own.
Who would you like to see play Wolverine in the MCU?
