Jeremy Renner Talks About His AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Set Visit and Opens Up About HAWKEYE Season 2
It’s safe to say that Jeremy Renner is not done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet and There’s no doubt that we’ll see him in action as Hawkeye again.
He recently shared that he visited the set of Avengers: Doomsday, and while he didn’t confirm if he was there to shoot anything, his comments are sure to get fans talking. Renner also opened up about what could be next for Hawkeye Season 2.
Talking to Cinema Blend, he revealed he paid a visit to his old Avengers teammates while they were filming Avengers: Doomsday in London.
“Yeah, well, [they] are very, very dear friends of mine. I got to catch up with them, actually, when I was on the book tour when they were filming in London. I got to break bread with all of the boys on that show. It was good to see everybody and we have a forever bond. Whether we're filming or not, we're always connected.”
It’s cool to know that he’s keeping close ties with the MCU family. Whether that means Hawkeye will make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday remains to be seen.
As for Hawkeye Season 2, For months, there have been reports that Hawkeye Season 2 would pull inspiration from The Raid, focusing on Clint Barton and Kate Bishop facing off against Barney Barton (a.k.a. Trickshot). But Renner revealed that the show’s future is still uncertain, especially after some tough negotiations with Marvel Studios.
The actor surprised fans when he admitted he turned down Hawkeye Season 2 because Marvel offered him half of what he earned for the first season.
With Marvel reportedly scaling back the involvement of big-screen heroes in Disney+ projects, it’s unclear whether Clint Barton will pick up his bow again anytime soon.
Renner recnetly made it clear he’s still open to doing another season of Hawkeye, even teasing that it would once again be set during the holidays.
“For a second season, that was always the idea to continue that narrative, even in the Christmas framework of it all, too, because they love that world in New York. There’s really no more beautiful place than New York until Christmas. After Christmas is kind of bleak.”
Renner added: “It’s really not my decision to make,” suggesting that the ball is in Marvel’s court when it comes to greenlighting the next chapter.
Even if Hawkeye Season 2 doesn’t happen soon, the first season already passed the torch to Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, setting her up as a key player in the MCU’s next generation of heroes. She’s expected to return in Avengers: Doomsday alongside the Young Avengers, which could continue the legacy Barton started.
It would definitely feel a little strange to see an Avengers movie without Hawkeye, though it wouldn’t be the first time. Clint was notably absent from Avengers: Infinity War, only to come back to kick some ass in Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. We’ll just have to wait and see Hawkeye joins the fight this time.
