Jessica Chastain is Rumored To Actually Be Playing Miss Sinister in X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX

Last week it was reported that Fox pushed back the released date of director Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Pheonix, which is said to be going through some reshoots. Now a new report has surfaced regarding the character that Jessica Chastain will play.

It was previously believed that she would be taking on the role of Lilandra, the leader of the Shi-ar Empire. Then there were rumors of her possibly playing Queen Veranke of the Skrull Empire. But according to entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider, on the most recent episode of Meet the Movie Press, he reveals she actually might be playing the classic X-Men villain Mister Sinister, only this will be a gender bent version that will be known as Miss Sinister, which would be a big twist if it actually turns out to be true.

This is interesting because Sneider also recently reported that Jon Hamm was supposed to play Mr. Sinister in Josh Boone's The New Mutants, but he was ultimately removed from the film. Maybe the reason for that is because Chastain will be filling that role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix?

It would make sense for the villain to be included in Dark Phoenix because the character was teased in X-Men: Apocalypse, which director Simon Kinberg was heavily involved with as well. Maybe bringing a version of Sinister into the next chapter of the X-Man franchise was always the plan, it's just going to be presented in a way no one was expecting.

Maybe at one point, Fox was considering using two different versions of Sinister but ultimately decided on only one to avoid confusion. We'll eventually find out what is going on with Jessica Chastain's character when X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on February 14, 2019.

What do you think about the possibility of Chastain taking on the role of Miss Sinister?
