J.J. Abrams is Working on CONSTANTINE and ZATANNA Shows For HBO Max
Earlier this year, it was announced that J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production company would be developing both film and TV projects for DC’s Justice League Dark universe. At the time of the announcement, there were no details on what exactly these projects would entail. It’s this supernatural corner of the DC universe that Abrams and his team will be focusing on.
THR has now confirmed two series projects that Abrams is working on for HBO Max and they include Constantine and Zatanna. Both of these projects have been rumored in the past but as film projects. This is the first time we’ve heard they will be developed as TV shows.
A few months ago it was reported that a Zatanna movie was moving forward. However, that report said it had nothing to do with Abrams or Bad Robot. It was also previously rumored that Abrams was developing a Constantine movie with the possibility of Keanu Reeves reprising his role. Maybe these projects were being developed as series all along and the initial reports got that detail wrong.
We don’t really know how far into development these projects are, but I’m a big fan of these characters and would love to see how Abrams and his team envision them as they bring them to the big screen.
