Joaquin Phoenix Apparently Has No Idea He's Involved With a Joker Origin Movie
A couple of weeks ago news broke that Joaquin Phoenix was in talks to join the Joker origin movie that Warner Bros. is developing with director Todd Phillips. Variety even went as far as to say that he had agreed to join the film!
Well, that might not be the case. During a recent interview with the French publication Allocine, the actor was asked about the project and he told them he had no idea what they were talking about.
"What movie about a Joker?... I have no idea what you're talking about."
Now, he could just be messing around, but in the video interview that you can watch on the site, he actually comes off as being genuinely confused. It doesn't sound like he's even been in talks with anyone.
At the same time, he might be under contract with the studio not to say anything until an official announcement has been made, but who knows!? I actually like the idea of Phoenix in the role of Joker. I think he would bring something awesomely crazy to the character. So I hope he's just messing with us. I'm sure we'll find out what's going on soon enough.
The movie is said to "delve into what it took for the Joker to become a mastermind criminal. Sources say the story will take place in the ’80s and have more of the look of a gritty crime drama than comic book movie."
Do you want to see Phoenix in the role of The Joker? Or are you relieved that he might not be in the movie after all?
