Joe Manganiello, Justin Long, and Craig Robinson Have Joined Kevin Smith's JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT
Kevin Smith has started production on Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and he’s just announced several new cast members.
The director recently shared a photo of himself and Jason Mewes along with Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Craig Robinson (The Office), Frankie Shaw (SMILF), Justin Long (Tusk), and Jordan Monsanto, who is a producer of several of Smith’s film projects.
These actors join the previously cast Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh, and Carlos Valdes, who all worked with Smith on The Flash. Smith has sure wrangled together a fun cast!
Saban Films picked up the North American distribution rights to the film, which will follow Jay and Silent Bob on a new adventure, one that can't necessarily be classified as a traditional reboot. Smith previously explained:
"If you remember Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, it was a movie in which Jay and Silent Bob found out Hollywood was making a movie about them so they went cross country to Hollywood to stop that from happening. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is completely fucking different. In Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Jay and Silent Bob find out that Hollywood is making a reboot of that old movie that they had made about them, and they have to go cross the country to Hollywood to stop it all over again. it’s literally the same fucking movie all over again. It’s a movie that makes fun of sequels and remakes and reboots while being all three at the same time."
The movie is expected to be released this fall. Kevin Smith will also be sharing production video diaries while he’s shooting the film. You can also see the first official photo from the film here.
