John Boyega Keeps Hope Alive for a Finn and Poe Return in STAR WARS
Star Wars fans who enjoyed the dynamic between Finn and Poe Dameron just got a little bit of optimism, thanks to John Boyega.
The actor recently talked about the possibility of stepping back into the Star Wars franchise and he made it clear that if he and Oscar Isaac ever come back, it has to be on a grand scale.
While Boyega seems game, Isaac has been more hesitant which creates an interesting contrast that fans are definitely paying attention to.
At Liverpool Comic Con, Boyega spoke openly about what it would take for him to return as Finn in another Star Wars project. For him, the energy between Finn and Poe deserves the full theatrical treatment and nothing less.
“Me and Oscar are very stubborn and we believe the bromance should only be on the big screen,” Boyega said. He also mentioned that he would want Joonas Suotamo back as Chewbacca if any new adventure gets rolling.
As he explained, “It has to be a movie and obviously a great script. And I already spoke to Joonas today and said Joonas, you must join Poe and Finn on their adventure. So if I get those combinations, who knows.”
I like Boyega’s enthusiasm. Isaac’s situation however seems more tangled at the moment. The actor recently commented that he is not opposed to returning to Star Wars or even the Marvel world someday but he is not interested in working with Disney under the current circumstances.
His comments followed Disney’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel over remarks made on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney,” Isaac said. “But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great.”
He also revisited his own widely quoted 2020 comment about returning as Poe only if he “needed another house,” adding with a laugh, “Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ… I said a slightly dickish thing.”
So where does this leave the dream of seeing Finn and Poe back together again? There is clearly interest from Boyega and at least a conditional maybe from Isaac. If Disney and the actors can align their visions fans might actually get another movie that brings these characters back to the big screen.
But it Adam Driver and Steven Soderbergh can’t get their Ben Solo project off the ground, I doubt we’ll get a Finn and Poe movie. We’ll just have to wait and see!
