John Boyega Wants to Play Bishop in the MCU and He's Already Talked to Kevin Feige About It

John Boyega might be ready to jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially if the right role comes knocking at his door, and the actor has one he’s got in mind… Bishop.

At C2E2, Boyega was asked by Happy Sad Confused’s Josh Horowitz if he’d ever had conversations with Marvel Studios. Turns out, he has.

“Oh, I'd play Bishop,” Boyega said, confirming that he once spoke to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who asked him who he might want to play in the MCU. He’s got his sights set on the time-traveling, energy-blasting mutant from the future.

Bishop is a key player from the future in the X-Men universe. First appearing in Uncanny X-Men #282 back in 1991, he’s a mutant who can absorb energy and fire it back at enemies with devastating force.

He’s got the tactical mind of a soldier, a strong sense of justice, and a visual look that’s instantly iconic. And with X-Men '97 recently reintroducing the character to a whole new generation, Marvel could be priming him for a proper live-action debut.

This is a big shift from Boyega’s stance a few years back. In 2022, he said, “[Marvel] is not in the vision for me now. I want to do nuanced things... I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top 'Iron Man' in that universe.”

He’s obviously changed his tune after talking to Feige about jumping into the MCU. While his experience in the Star Wars sandbox wasn’t what he hoped, maybe Marvel will give him a much better franchise experience.

What do you think? Would you like to see John Boyega in the role of Bishop in the MCU?
