John Cena Comments on Officially Joining FAST & FURIOUS 9 and Dwayne Johnson Will Not Return
About a month ago Vin Diesel teased that John Cena (Bumblebee) would be joining Fast & Furious 9. Well, it’s now official! The studio recent confirmed the Cena has been locked in, and all we know about his character at this point is that he will play “a badass.”
Shortly after the announcement was made, Cena posted the following statement on Twitter:
“For nearly 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history. It’s an incredible honor to join this franchise and this family.”
Cena will perfectly fit right into this franchise, but you know who won’t be showing up this time around? Dwayne Johnson. The report says he will not be in the next film, which I think many of us already assumed, especially after the drama that has gone down between him, Vin Diesel, and Tyrese Gibson.
Also, Johnson doesn’t really need to be in it, as he’s got his own Hobbs and Shaw thing going on, and that spinoff movie looks like it’s going to be crazier than any other film that we’ve seen in the Fast and Furious franchise.
Dan Casey is writing the screenplay from a story by Justin Lin, who will be directing the film. Production starts later this month for a May 22nd, 2020 release.
