John Krasinski Wants More JACK RYAN Movies After GHOST WAR
Fans of Jack Ryan have a pretty good reason to be excited right now. Even though the hit Amazon Prime Video series wrapped up its run, John Krasinski doesn’t sound ready to walk away from the character anytime soon.
Krasinski is returning as the legendary CIA analyst in Jack Ryan: Ghost War, the upcoming movie directed by Andrew Bernstein and co-written by Krasinski alongside Aaron Rabin. The film is currently streamin on Prime Video, and it’s decent. Definitley not has good as the Harrison Ford Jack Ryan movies.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Krasinski opened up about the possibility of continuing Jack Ryan beyond Ghost War, and he sounded excited about where things could go next.
“I would love to [continue Jack Ryan as a film series].” He added that playing the character in a different format made him realize they could tell different stories with him. “I think we have more stories to tell.”
Krasinski’s version of Jack Ryan became one of Prime Video’s biggest action franchises, and shifting from a streaming series into movies feels like a natural evolution for the character. It also opens the door for bigger-scale missions and more cinematic storytelling.
Bernstein also sounds fully onboard for more installments. While discussing the future of the franchise, the director explained that everyone involved has ideas, but the story itself has to be worth telling.
“I think it’s super important that we have a story to tell. That’s the most important,” he added. He noted that the narrative they had, which “made sense” for both Ryan and “the world,” and which he noted “keeps changing,” was the reason they returned to the franchise and made the film in the first place.
He continued, “So there’s going to be great stories, and great character stories. So I think we’re all excited to jump back in and do it again.”
That approach is honestly refreshing. Instead of forcing sequels just because the brand is popular, it sounds like the team wants each movie to earn its place. Considering how much geopolitical tension and real-world inspiration the Jack Ryan franchise has always pulled from, there’s definitely no shortage of material to explore.
Of course, whether more movies happen will likely depend on how well Ghost War performs when it hits streaming. Bernstein made it clear that everyone involved hopes audiences show up for this one because the cast and crew would gladly keep going.
“One would hope [Jack Ryan continues after Ghost War]. Yeah, listen, we all loved making this movie. I think you can tell by the character interaction, they get along well in real life on the screen,” he shared.
“There’s a lot more of Jack Ryan’s story to tell… And if people dig this movie, which we hope they will, we’re hopeful to make more of them.”
“But we have to get this one out and then we’ll see what happens. But I know everyone’s super excited to do it again,” he continued.
Turning Jack Ryan into an ongoing movie franchise feels like the right move. Krasinski completely owned the role during the series run, and there’s still plenty of room to push the character into bigger, more dangerous global conflicts.
