JOHN WICK 4 Finds "New Ways and Interesting Ways To Have John Wick Suffer"

Keanu Reeves’ John Wick has been through hell over the past three John Wick movies as there are constantly people trying to kill him. While he manages to kick everyone’s ass that comes at him, he’s still gotten brutally hurt physically and emotionally in the process. Well, Wick’s suffering isn’t going to end with John Wick 4. In fact, according to director Chad Stahelski:

"We keep finding new and interesting ways to have John Wick suffer. That's where the action comes from. Figure out how to make him suffer, and then design backward."

So, I guess we should prepare ourselves to see John Wick suffer some more! When asked if this next film in the franchise would be its last, Reeves said: "We just attack one at a time”, and Stahelski added: "We do it chapter by chapter. Just like an author; write the chapter, scratch head, write next chapter."

It doesn’t sound to me like they’re done yet. Stahelski previously said that he could make these John Wick films for the rest of his career. He and Reeves apparently have a ton of ideas!

“I enjoy making these movies because there’s no limit. We create our own mythology, and we have a studio that both stays out of our way and supports us on the wacky decisions. If people go see the movie, and it makes money, and they came back to us, Keanu and I have ideas for days. I could live here for the rest of my career. If people like it and want to watch more, I could think of way worse ways to spend your career. But, you know, we’re in the entertainment business. We’ll let the audience figure that out.”

As long as fans keep coming to see these John Wick movies, these guys are going to keep pumping them out. I recently saw the first trailer for John Wick 4 at CinemaCon and this movie is going to be another awesome entry to the franchise! You can watch our reaction to that footage here.

John Wick 4 is being helmed by Chad Stahelski, and the cast also includes Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Clancy Brown, and Ian McShane. The movie is currently scheduled to open in theaters on May 27th, 2023.
