Johnny Knoxville Teases JACKASS 5 Stunts After Brain Hemorrhage: “I Can’t Get Hit in the Head" but "Everything Else Is on the Table"

Fans got a jolt of excitement when Johnny Knoxville recently confirmed that a new Jackass movie is officially on the way. With Jackass 5 slated to hit theaters this summer, the big question immediately followed. What kind of brutal chaos and pain can Knoxville actually take from here on out?

That curiosity makes sense, especially after what happened during Jackass Forever. In the 2022 film, Knoxville took one of the most brutal hits of his career when he was launched into the air by a charging bull and came down hard on his head.

The aftermath was serious. A brain hemorrhage, a concussion, a broken wrist, and a broken rib. Since then, Knoxville has been open about how that moment forced him to rethink how much damage his body can realistically handle.

During a recent appearance on the Books That Changed My Life podcast, Knoxville addressed his future with the franchise head-on after being asked if he’s even allowed to do stunts anymore.

“I can’t do anything where I can get another concussion. [I’m] way over my limit for concussions, but I don’t care about anything else. I just can’t get hit in the head anymore — but a lot of other guys can.”

That limitation doesn’t seem to have taken the wind out of his sails. If anything, Knoxville sounds genuinely thrilled about returning, even if his role has evolved. He explained that while the films are brutal for the performers, the experience still gives him a rush.

Knoxville said the Jackass movies are “pure hell for the cast, but they’re a lot of fun for me,” adding, “They’re having fun too. I’m very excited about that.”

Jackass 5 is set to premiere in theaters on June 26 through Paramount Pictures, and details are still being kept mostly under wraps. What’s been confirmed is a mix of brand-new material alongside never-before-seen archival footage.

That approach lines up with the direction hinted at in the last film, where a younger generation of stunt performers began sharing the spotlight with the original crew.

There’s also a notable update for longtime fans of the franchise. Original cast member Bam Margera has signed on to appear via archival footage, marking a significant step toward easing the years-long tension between Margera and the Jackass team following his removal from the fourth movie. He isn’t expected to perform any new stunts.

While Knoxville may be done with taking hits to the head, he isn’t stepping away from the madness altogether. It makes sense for the franchise to continue with a new wave of crazy stunt performers to take on some of the heavier impacts.
