Jon Favreau Confirms He Won’t Return as Happy Hogan in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY

Fans hoping to see Happy Hogan pop back into Peter Parker’s life in Spider-Man: Brand New Day might want to temper those expectations.

Jon Favreau, who’s been part of the Spider-Man corner of the MCU since Spider-Man: Homecoming, has made it clear he isn’t suiting up for another round with Tom Holland’s web-slinger this time.

Favreau, who’s currently busy working on The Mandalorian and Grogu, addressed the rumors head-on and didn’t leave much room for interpretation. He said:

"I can give you a big spoiler: I'm not in it. He lost his memory," the filmmaker started. "I'm not part of [it], he doesn't remember me anymore. He might meet me again someday, I don't know.

“But isn't that how the last one ended with him forgetting everything? So now it's all about his new. I don't know anything about it. If I'm in it, they'd better hurry up, 'cause they're running out of time."

Favreau might’ve mixed up the details a bit as he’s been buried in Star Wars for year. As fans know, it wasn’t Peter who forgot everyone. It was the entire world that lost its memory of Peter Parker at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Either way, the takeaway is the same. Happy Hogan isn’t part of this next chapter, at least for now.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is hitting the reset button in a big way. Set four years after the events of No Way Home, the film drops us into a version of New York where Peter is completely on his own. No friends, no safety net, and no one who remembers the kid behind the mask.

Peter is now fully committed to being Spider-Man around the clock, protecting a city that doesn’t know who he is. But that responsibility starts to pile up fast.

The pressure isn’t just emotional either. Something strange begins happening to him physically, putting his very existence at risk while a new wave of crime sweeps through the city. That chaos brings with it a threat that could push him further than we’ve ever seen before.

The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing and writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers back on board.

Even without Happy Hogan in the mix, there’s a lot riding on this film. It’s a fresh start for Peter Parker, and that means new relationships, new enemies, and a totally different dynamic than what we’ve seen before.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
