Jonathan Majors Sets His “Movie Comeback” in Motion With RED DAWN-Inspired Daily Wire Action Film

After a turbulent year that saw his career implode at Marvel, Jonathan Majors is stepping back into the spotlight. The Loki and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star is officially heading into production on a new action movie backed by The Daily Wire, marking his first major project since his legal troubles derailed his time in the MCU and Hollywood.

In December 2023, Majors was found guilty of one count of reckless assault in the third degree and a charge of harassment as a violation following an altercation with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Marvel Studios quickly cut ties with the actor, ending his run as Kang, who had been positioned as the big villain of the Multiverse Saga.

Majors has continued to maintain his innocence. Since the verdict, he’s completed a 52-week domestic violence intervention program and saw the quiet release of Magazine Dreams, a film that once had serious awards momentum. Now, he’s making a clear move toward rebuilding his career.

According to Deadline, cameras roll this week in South Carolina on an untitled action thriller produced by The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend. It’s Majors’ first movie to shoot in four years.

The Daily Wire has been expanding its film slate in recent years and previously collaborated with Gina Carano after her exit from The Mandalorian. Bonfire Legend, the production banner behind projects like The Pendragon Cycle and Frontier Crucible, is also steering the ship here.

The project is written and directed by Kyle Rankin, known for Run Hide Fight, and it leans hard into retro action territory. As described by the report, "the story is said to be in the vein of '80s and '90s action movies Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers, which were both about groups of teenage boys who had to band together to defeat invading enemies."

As for his Marvel future, that door appears closed. Still, Majors hasn’t completely shut down the speculation. When The U.S. Sun caught up with him last year and asked about rumors of a potential MCU return, he reacted with a grin. "I cannot say anything about that.”

When pressed further about whether anything might be in the works, Majors added, "Well, it's a Multiverse, so there's always that. Always a lot of opportunity for that," and noted he was "very glad" to hear that many fans want him back.

Whether that optimism leads anywhere is another story.

Beyond this Daily Wire action film, Majors is also attached to Martin Villeneuve’s supernatural revenge thriller Merciless, though that project hasn’t begun filming.

What are your thoughts on Jonathan Major’s attempt to make a comeback? It’s hard to belive that he’ll ever get to the place he once was before everything fell apart for him.
