Josh Gad Cast in Disney's Live-Action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Actor Josh Gad seems to have a pretty solid relationship with Disney. He provided the voice of Olaf in Frozen and was recently confirmed to reprise the role in Frozen 2. Now he’s been cast in the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.

He will play Le Fou in the film, the goofy and loyal sidekick of Gaston, who will be played by Luke Evans. Gad is the perfect actor to take on the character, and it makes complete sense that Disney would cast him.

Gad will also join Emma Watson (Belle) and Dan Stevens (Beast/Prince) on the project. The movie is being directed by Bill Condon, and it tells the story of "a young woman who takes her father's place as a prisoner in a monstrous being's castle, only to fall in love with the creature who turns out to be a prince."

According to THR, the studio is going to make a very close adaptation of the 1991 animated film. They aren’t looking to give it a wild new makeover like they did with Alice in Wonderland or Maleficent. The recent live-action Cinderella film followed the story of the original animated film pretty closely, and I thought it worked out wonderfully.

Gad will next appear this summer opposite Adam Sandler and Peter Dinklage in Sony Picture’s Pixels, which will see classic arcade game characters invading the world.
