Julia Garner and Alden Ehrenreich Join Josh Brolin in WEAPONS From The Director of BARBARIAN
Julia Garner (The Fantastic 4) and Alden Ehrenreich (Solo) have jumped into another high-profile film project with Weapons, which comes from Zach Cregger, the director of the hit horror film Barbarian.
Garner and Ehrenreich will star alongside Josh Brolin in the film, which is set up at New Line Cinema. The movie is described as a “multi and inter-related story horror epic centered around witchcraft and missing children.”
It’s also said that the movie “tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson."
There’s not much more information than that other than it will start shooting in mid-May in Atlanta. Cregger made a big splash with Barbarian and it will be interesting to see what story this next film of his will tell.
Garner recently joined Marvel’s The Fantastic 4 and will take on the role of Shalla-Bal, who is an incarnation of Silver Surfer.
Pedro Pascal was previously cast in Weapons, but he had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict with The Fantastic 4. I guess that wasn’t an issue with Garner. He was replaced by Brolin.
Cregger is producing along with Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.
