Kaitlyn Dever's Performance in THE LAST OF US Season 2 Praised by Isabela Merced

Kaitlyn Dever was cast in the role of Abby in The Last of Us Season 2 and her co-star Isabela Merced has high praise for the actress and her performance in the series.

During an interview on the Happy Sad Confused, Merced teased, "Give her the damn Emmy, honestly. I'm so excited for people to see how incredibly well [Ellie actor] Bella [Ramsey] and Kaitlyn did on this."

In the series, Abby is “a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved.”

Series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, previously said of the casting: “Our casting process for season two has been identical to season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material.

“Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.”

It sounds like Dever delivers exactly what the creative team was looking for from her. She’s a talented young actress and I’m looking forward to seeing what she brings to the series.

The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed by a deadly virus. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone to the Fireflies, a cure-searching organization. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

Dever and Merced are joined by Young Mazino as Jesse, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle as Nora.

When Season 2 was announced, Druckmann said: “I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey.

“The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!”

Mazin added: “I’m so grateful to Neil Druckmann and HBO for our partnership, and I’m even more grateful to the millions of people who have joined us on this journey.

“The audience has given us the chance to continue, and as a fan of the characters and world Neil and Naughty Dog created, I couldn’t be more ready to dive back in.”
