Karl Urban Confirms THE BOYS Season 5 Will Finally Reveal The Backstory of Billy Butcher’s Scar

It looks like fans of The Boys are finally going to get an answer to one of the show’s longest-running mysteries. Karl Urban recently revealed that The Boys Season 5 will dive into the backstory of Billy Butcher’s scar.

During his appearance at MCM London Comic Con, Urban confirmed that the upcoming season will explore how Butcher got that distinctive mark on his forehead. The actor shared,

“Personally, I would actually love to keep that a bit enigmatic. But, Season 5, you’re going to find out the origin of Butcher’s scar. That is one spoiler I will tell you – so I can’t divulge it in this room, but you are going to find out.”

While Urban didn’t give away any specific details, his tease is enough to spark interest and get fans talking. The scar has always been part of Butcher’s gritty, battle-worn persona, and the story behind it will finally come full circle in the show’s final season.

Production on The Boys Season 5 officially wrapped earlier this year, marking the end of an era for one of Prime Video’s biggest hits. Series creator and showrunner Eric Kripke reflected on the emotional milestone, posting on X (formerly Twitter),

“This is the last time I’ll ever be on this set. It’ll be torn down soon. It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude.”

Urban will return as Butcher alongside Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone, and Antony Starr. Season 5 will pick up after the events of Gen V Season 2, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense and emotional conclusion.

Prime Video has yet to announce the official release date, but with filming wrapped and anticipation running high, it’s only a matter of time before fans see how it all ends.
