Kathleen Kennedy Says The Next Phase of STAR WARS Will Span a Decade
After Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters later this year, the franchise is going into a hiatus for an undisclosed period of time to “take a pause, some time, and reset.” But, when Lucasfilm is ready to move forward on their next phase of films, they are going to go all out!
While talking to Fandango about the future of the franchise, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said:
“We’re looking at stories that will span the next decade.”
So that’s something that is sure to excite fans! I’m definitely excited for the future of Star Wars, especially with the new original trilogies coming from Rian Johnson and Game of Thrones series creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. Their films will be set in different unexplored corners of the Star Wars universe and they will be filled with all new characters.
I’m sure there will be a few other film projects thrown into the mix as will that do connect with with certain aspects of the original saga. But the Skywalker saga itself will end with The Rise of Skywalker.
