Ke Huy Quan Asked Kathleen Kennedy to Put Him in a STAR WARS Movie - "I Was Shameless"
Ke Huy Quan has had quite a wild journey in recent years after starring in Everything Everywhere All At Once. He most recently made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Loki, playing the character O.B., which was a perfect fit for him. The actor now would love to jump into the Star Wars universe!
During an interview with Collider, Quan opened up about his “shameless” encounter with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in which he he’d love to join a Star Wars project. He shared:
“I love the MCU. You know, I was able to connect with my Indiana Jones family during the award season. And, as you know, Kathleen Kennedy was the producer, and she’s the head of Lucasfilm now. I did go up to her and I said, ‘Kathy, I would love to join the Star Wars family.’ That’s another wish list of mine. But honestly, I’ve been very lucky. I’ve been very lucky.”
“I was shameless when I saw Kathy! I went up to give her a big hug. And I said, ‘Kathy, Kathy, please put me in the Star Wars universe!’ And what’s so great about it, if you think about it, it’s all under the Disney family, you know? So, I was lucky to be Short Round, which is also Disney. And, now MCU, and, you know, I want to stay in the family. It’s great.”
I would actually love to see Quan in the Star Wars universe. Not just as a side character, though. I think there’s a character that could be created for him that a project could be completely built around. He could be the lead character! He just has such a lovable personality and energetic energy, and there’s a unique and fun adventure story in the Star Wars universe for a personality like that.
It’s really not hard to imagine a character for Quan in Star Wars, and he would certainly take audiences and fans on a wild adventure! The more I think about this, the more I’d love to see something like this! I’ve got this crazy vision in my head for what it could be, and Quan has the kind of fanbase that would flock to watch him lead a Star Wars project.
In the meantime, Quan would also love to return of the role of O.B. in the MCU. He said: “I haven’t had any conversations. I love O.B. I love playing him. It makes me so happy that the audience is responding to this character. When I first got the call from Kevin Feige and he asked me to come join the MCU family, I asked him, ‘Is this a one-time thing? Or are we going to be able to see more of him?’ Because I loved him on the pages. And he says, ‘Ke, we always give what the fans want.'”
What do you think about Ke Huy Quan jumping into the Star Wars universe for an adventure in a galaxy far, far away?
