Keanu Reeves Reportedly Offered Lead Role in Sony's KRAVEN THE HUNTER Marvel Film
Sony Pictures has reportedly offered Keanu Reeves the role of Spider-Man villain Kraven the Hunter in a solo film project that is currently in development. If this is true, we still don’t know if Reeves is going to accept the offer.
I think Reeves would be awesome in the role of Kraven the Hunter, and if he takes it on, it’ll be interesting to see how he brings the character to life. According to The Illuminardi, as of right now, the project is being referred to simply as Kraven. The project is also described as having a tone that mashes together Man on Fire and Logan.
One of the last things we heard about the project is that the studio was in talks with director J.C. Chandor to helm the solo film. Chandor is the director of films such as Triple Frontier, A Most Violent Year, All Is Lost, and Margin Call. There’s no word on if he’s still involved with the project.
Spider-Man 3 is also currently in production, and there have been rumors that Kraven the Hunter could show up in that film, but that has yet to be confirmed. However, with the studio looking to cast the role in the early days of production, there’s a chance that they might be planning to introduce him in the movie, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
In a previously released casting description, the character is described as being of Russian origin, with "superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes." It goes on to say that this "maniacal big-game hunter seeks to defeat Spider-Man to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world,” and described as a "Bourne-like bounty hunter.” Reeves can definitely pull it off.
Screenwriter Richard Wenk, who penned The Equalizer films for Sony, wrote the initial script for the movie and Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad are set to produce.
What do you all think about the possibility of seeing Reeves play Kraven the Hunter?
