Keanu Reeves Says DC Studios is Trying To Figure Out CONSTANTINE 2, But Hopes It Happens
Fans were so excited to learn that Keanu Reeves was going to reprise his role as John Constantine in a Constantine sequel! Hell, Reeves was excited about it! He’s been trying to make this sequel happen for years!
He previously said: "I don't know if it was unfinished business but it was definitely a role that I loved. And I thought that Francis Lawrence, the director, did such amazing work. I loved playing that character, and I really enjoyed the film. I was like, [in a Oliver Twist voice] 'Can I please have some more?' I kept asking almost every year. I'd be like, 'Can I please?' and they'd be like, 'No, no!'"
Then they finally said yes! Now, that exciting yes has turned into an uncertain maybe. It’s so sad! Not long ago Reeves offered an update, saying: “I was hoping it would, but we don’t know. Yeah, we’re trying.”
Now, in a recent interview with Looper, Reeves confirmed that James Gunn and Peter Safran are apparently trying to figure it all out and how it will fit in with their plan, I guess?
Reeves said: "I think they're trying to figure out what to do with that. Hopefully, I can reprise the role of John Constantine, but it remains to be seen. Yeah. But I hope so. I hope so."
The fans hope so as well! This sequel needs to happen! When previously talking about his excitement for the film, Reeves said: "So it's exciting. It's almost like an open playground that we can hopefully cook something up and play in, and I guess get out of the playground and prepare a meal. But I'm looking forward to it, and hopefully, it can happen. You don't know how these things go. But I'm definitely going to try my darndest to try and realize that dream."
Francis Lawrence will return to direct the movie with Akiva Goldsman set to produce and write the script. Who knows what Gunn and Safran will decide to do with it, but hopefully they make the right decision.
