Keanu Reeves Says He's Tried to Get a CONSTANTINE Sequel Off the Ground
Keanu Reeves has mentioned a few times over the years that he would love to play John Constantine again in a sequel to the 2005 film Constantine. He now reveals that he has actually actively tried to get a sequel made.
Reeves was recently a guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and when asked about what role of his he'd like to revisit, Reeves explained, "I would love to play John Constantine again from the Constantine film."
Unfortunately, Reeves explains that no one wants to make this sequel with him and he tells Colbert, "I've tried. I've tried, Stephen.” Colbert goes on to say that if Reeves does make the movie, he would like to play a reluctant demon in it.
It is kinda crazy that Reeves is passionate about making this film, he’s 100% committed, but no one at WB or DC wants to do it with them. Those people are crazy over there at those studios.
Reeves previously said, "I love playing Constantine. John Constantine. I've played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don't even know. I think it's over ten. But anyway, I'd love to have the chance to play Constantine again."
Constantine was released back in 2005 and also starred Rachel Weisz as LAPD Detective Angela Dodson, Tilda Swinton as Archangel Gabriel, and Shia LaBeouf as Chas Kramer, Constantine's driver. The story follows Angela and Constantine unravelling a hellish plot that would wreak havoc on Earth and humanity.
J.J. Abrams is producing a John Constantine series for HBO Max, but there are no details on the project other than it’s been reported that the character will be played by "a diverse lead."
While Reeves may not get to play John Constantine again, at least he’s still making other cool and exciting movies!
