Keanu Reeves Teams Up with Deadpool Director Tim Miller for New Sci-Fi Thriller SHIVER
Keanu Reeves is heading back into the world of science fiction, and this time he’s teaming up with Deadpool director Tim Miller for an original new film titled Shiver.
Warner Bros. is reportedly in the final stages of closing the deal to acquire the project, which already sounds like it’s going to be something wild and ambitious.
Reeves has a long history of kicking ass in sci-fi, from The Matrix series to Johnny Mnemonic, Chain Reaction, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Replicas. But Shiver sounds like it’ll take him into a whole new kind of chaos.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shiver will be directed by Miller from a screenplay by Ian Shorr, with Kingsman creator Matthew Vaughn producing alongside Aaron Ryder.
While official plot details are being kept under wraps, the film reportedly follows “a ne’er-do-well smuggler who finds himself in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea, resulting in him being surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and thirsty sharks alike. He next finds himself in a deathly time loop and scrambling to break the cycle.”
That setup sounds like Edge of Tomorrow meets The Shallows, with a touch of John Wick-style grit. A smuggler trapped in a time loop full of sharks and mercenaries? Yeah, I’m in.
Reeves has kept his schedule packed lately. He recently appeared in Lionsgate’s John Wick spinoff Ballerina and Aziz Ansari’s comedy Good Fortune. Up next, he’ll star in Jonah Hill’s dark comedy Outcome, alongside Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer, and in the satirical comedy The Entertainment System is Down with Kirsten Dunst.
I’ll be looking forward to seeing how Shiver turns out?
