Kevin Feige Confirms Hugh Jackman's Wolverine Will Eventually Be Replaced by Another Actor
It’s pretty cool that Hugh Jackman returned to play a new version of Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, and while there has been talk about the actor continuing his run in other projects, Kevin Feige confirms that Jackman will eventually be replaced by another actor.
During a recent interview with Discussing Film, Feige was asked if Jackman would be replaced with a new actor and he said: "Yes. You know, Marvel is celebrating its 85th anniversary later this summer. That’s just the first 85 years, and Disney just celebrated 100 years as well.”
He goes on to say that when it does happen, it will be a very different take on the character: “I think these characters will be around for another 100 years, long after all of us. So, for sure, there will be [eventually another actor as Wolverine]. I think it will be in a very different style and in a different way.
Feige then says it would be a mistake for any ew potential actor to try and impersonate what Jackman has done with the character: “I also think if somebody were to attempt to do a Hugh Jackman as Wolverine impression, that would be a pretty big mistake."
There are "no immediate plans" to replace Jackman, but it’s just something that will eventually happen when, I guess, Jackman decides to retire from the character again.
One thing we know for sure is that Jackman will be sticking around for at least one more movie. That might be Avengers: Secret Wars, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
When it is time for a new actor to take on the role of Wolverine, what actor would you like to see take it on?
