Kevin Feige Says AVENGERS: SECRET WARS "Leads Us into a New Age of Mutants and of the X-Men"
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently offered some comments on the future of the MCU and the introduction of the X-Men.
During the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore, Feige talked about bringing the X-Men into the MCU, saying: "I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize.”
He then revealed; “Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back."
All we know about the upcoming X-Men movie is that the script is being written by Michael Lesslie (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes).
Feige went on to reflect on Deadpool & Wolverine, saying: "When we first started working on the film for the first time, we wanted to see Wolverine in a yellow costume. I had goosebumps on set when he walked out wearing that costume and put on that mask for the first time. I’ve been waiting 25 years to bring that to life."
When talking about Thunderbolts*, he described it as "what Marvel is all about. It’s taking characters from all different types of places and franchises and putting them together. That’s what the Avengers is, that’s what Guardians of the Galaxy is."
Marvel Studios has had the rights to the X-Men for about five years now, but bringing them into the MCU is something they’ve taken their time with.
Their biggest film so far involving the X-Men and mutants is Deadpool & Wolverine, but I have a feeling when they introduce the MCU’s X-Men, things are going to look a lot different. We’ll just have to be patient as we wait and see what Marvel’s plan is.
What do you hope to see from Marvel Studios X-Men movie?
